on my birthday, i joined the staff of the office where i do my temping on their outing to the museum of science to see the exhibit the quest for immortality. it was nice. interesting in places. we looked around for a couple hours and then had some lunch together. that was... kind of annoying. the two people nearest me were having and in depth discussion about some ridiculous diet scheme. i have no patience for that stuff. and other people talked about things like internships for bidding UU ministers. i had no input. i started to feel a little sulky. it's one thing to hang out on your birthday with people who don't know it's your birthday... but it's yet another thing to be bored stiff by them when you'd rather be having a good time in some way. yes. anyway.

i left there and went to the cambridgeside galleria - a big mall. because they have an rmv office and my license was about to expire. renewed that and felt enormously relieved (last time my license came up for renewal... let's just say it didn't go too smoothly). then i decided to splurge on some new jeans and went to old navy for a while. found jeans (yay!) and a pretty red top i designated my special birthday top.

shopping helped pick up my mood somewhat.. at the rmv, i was downright mopey. i think maybe i felt lonely... or... i don't know. i had been feeling down since therapy a few days before... and surprise, it didn't instantly go away when it became my birthday.

then i picked up E and she came over to help me clean up the house before people arrived. she's such a powerhouse, we had to whole place clean in about an hour. i also glanced at lj and it perked me up more still to see all the birthday wishes.

harrimad_sol, scottxwl, hominidj, camillafarfalla, powerfulkatrina and my parents all came over and we hung out at the apartment a bit before we went to elephant walk for dinner. dinner was yummmmy. and so nice to be there with all of those wonderful people. it was rather humorous just how frequently the conversation turned to lj-related topics... E was the only one there without an lj and even she reads along. weird... and funny... and good, i think.

we came back to the house for cake and gifts. rach made a super-delicious carrot cake (my favorite). i got so many wonderul presents. so many. i am so grateful to everyone.

harrimad_sol, scottxwl and hominidj stayed the night. in the morning, after some sleeping in, we made a big brunch and ate it all up. mmmm. we dawdled about for a while before deciding to meet up with camilla and go see TTT at the somerville theater. hominidj had to stay behind due to nasty paper. :( the movie was... well, you know, fantastic. and great to see with that particular crowd of appreciators.

when we got home, there was just time to watch a few hp and buffy songvids before the noho kids had to head back. :( it was so nice having them here. i miss them already. camilla stayed a while and we ate chinese food and watched silly tv.

after church yesterday, rach and i decided we'd actually go outside and enjoy the day. we went down to the charles and took a walk along it. it was beautiful out and it was nice to have some time just with rach. and then... well, we bought groceries, she made amazing rosemary focaccia, we watched the oscars.

thus endeth my birthday weekend.
