Jul. 16th, 2005 06:39 pmwe're at a rest stop... somewhere. somewhere just east of des moines, iowa. and it has free wireless. will the wonders never cease?
this trip has been... long. as well as other things. the cats are both entertaining and infuriating to travel with. chloe is a mean little thing in the car. and stella is scared and adorable.

camillafarfalla's amazing 3 cd mix for this trip has been keeping us singing and bouncing. and laughing. and maybe a little tearful here and there. so brilliant.
i have acquired HPB - $50 at a target in moline, illinois - and we're on chapter 3.
and... there's no good segue into this. my grandfather died last night. rather, early this morning. we're going to fly home for the funeral on thursday. he was 87 and i've been told he went quietly and comfortably. so. it feels a little unreal right now, so far away and all. maybe i'll have more to say about it later.
better get back on the road. hope you're all enjoying the book.
