okies, i have some catching up to do. but first i'm going to write about last night. then i'm going to wash the kitchen floor. then i'm going to go buy my lady some cough syrup. then i'm going to make lunch. C, who is supposed to be visiting, had to go to a wedding last minute (?) so won't be here 'til some time tonight.

ok. the concert last night. did i already say eeeeeee? because eeeeeee!!! we were [livejournal.com profile] scottxwl and the fangirls ([livejournal.com profile] annelarissa, [livejournal.com profile] starbuckle, [livejournal.com profile] pritchkate and me - so titled because of all the squeeing and swooning that took place at our table). first up was common rotation. they are adam busch (buffy's warren) and eric kufs. their mere physical presence on stage was instantly endearing. adam is all skinny and bouncy/head-wobbly and eric is oddly hunky (the word just keeps coming to mind) which made him extra cute with his guitar and tenor voice. they were just charming. there was much eeee! especially at our table. and oh yeah, their music was good too. :) quirky folk-pop. very enjoyable. they stepped out in front of the mics for the last two songs they did, which was really nice.

then the nields played. i've seen them several times before (as on rach and my first date) but never without the band. they're so cute together - totally make you wish you had a sister, you know? the highlight of their set was definitely when the played 'easy people.' i have loved the song for a long time and for many reasons but lately it's been all about my new friends and my new life out here. i put it on mixes for both jenny and anney. the version they played last night was toned down, slower, sweeter and... well, there were some tears. it was just... a moment, you know? and then they played dar's mercy of the fallen and... ::happy sigh::

and then, at the end of their set, they brought common rotation out again and they came up to the top of the stairs of the mezzanine and stood right next to us and sang goodnight irene. they were so frickin close, my inner fangirl almost exploded. i was sitting there, contemplating adam's lovely velvet jacket, remember [livejournal.com profile] camillafarfalla's tale of touching elijah's jacket, just because it was right there. and i swear, it wasn't a conscious decision, but my hand was about to go for it. fortunately, jenny noticed and gripped my hand tightly. a very good thing, because, from where we were sitting, i would only have succeeded in touching his ass - not nice while people are singing, you know?

and then, after the show, i bought a cr cd and hung around oh-so-casually until adam was wandering around undisturbed - aka free to be disturbed by [livejournal.com profile] pritchkate and me. he signed our cds and shook our hands and was adorable and sweet (and much smaller than i had realized) and he signed a picture [livejournal.com profile] scottxwl brought. and then there was some slight awkwardness when i figured he would be walking away to do... you know... important just-played-a-gig things. but instead he sort of stood there and we ended up leaving first. odd. but still fun.

it was really just such a fantastic night. definitely what i needed after the crappy day. oh and, the lyrics to 'easy people' )
