ok. so. yesterday. we saw a total of 6 apartments. most of them aren't worth discussing - nothing awful, just not thrilling. there was one totally amazing one - a block from
scottxwl and
harrimad_sol's place. but the guys living there now who are the ones searching for tenants were
losers who had not only already given the place to someone else but had entirely forgotten we were coming. bleh. it was such a nice place though. :(
the other good place we saw is the one currently occupied by rach's friend N who is moving to boston this summer. the cons: ugly wood paneled hallways, a kitchen in need of serious redecorating, 2 of the rooms are very small, N and her roommate aren't sure when they're moving out. the pros: beautiful windows in living room and bedroom, nice landlord, covered parking space, nice wood floors, counters and cabinets in the kitchen (imagine that!), washer-dryer hook up in bathroom, 5-6 blocks from scott and harri's house (which means main st is an easy walk) and... the clincher - $940 a month
including heat!!! omg. i just can't even fathom that. N will know her and her roommate’s plans within a month so we'll keep looking but we'll be hopeful.
it was really nice to visit with scott too. we just sat around and chatted and then went out for sushi and then chatted some more. i can't wait til that's something i can do just by walking down the street instead of by driving two hours. we also ran into J and A while we were in town. it feels so good to be somewhere you can just bump into people you know and love. and yeah, i recall that was one of the reasons i was ready to leave noho last time... but things were different then - and i still knew a lot of mhc students and stuff. it feels different now, and better. and i can't wait to be there.
