like you mean it

not looking like the most appropriate day for a cookout just yet... but that's what i'll be doing this afternoon, weather cooperating or not. having a cookout with the church choir. lovely. well, maybe it will be. they're all (or mostly) very nice people. i'm just afraid of them asking me questions i won't be able to answer. like about my plans for them for the coming year. like what we'll do at the winter music service. well, yesterday i had an idea for that - the pinkham christmas cantata. but i don't have a copy, so i'm not sure it would work. hmmm... i have til 2:30 today to pull something out of my ass to try to keep them satisfied. i plan to distract them with pictures of my trip to france and italy. here's hoping...

tanglewood was beautiful. the music, the place, the whole thing. it's pretty much ridiculous that i've lived in massachusetts forever and i'd never been there. i've even been to the area to have a lesson with my violin teacher while he was playing out there. but i never saw a concert. i saw him once during the performance last night - when i sat up in my chair and craned my neck to try to get a view of more than the timpanist. eh, i didn't need to see. it was just beautiful listening. there were several thunderstorms during the performance too, which made me deliriously happy and took the temperature down a few degrees. we were in the 'shed' so we didn't get wet, but we could see the lightning and hear the thunder and rain. lovely. i did get rather droopy from all the heat and humidity and there-was-nothing-to-see-so-why-not-close-my-eyes and all toward the end. still loved it. want to go again. and get lawn seats maybe... they looked like they were having fun.

welcome home from maine to harrimad_sol. we dined with her and her little sister and hominidj last night. were regaled with stories of a literally falling down drunk scottxwl. then came back here with just hominidj and watched i shot andy warhol which i thought was excellent.
