i have a question. it's kind of meme-like, really. hm. -.^

actually, it's two questions -

1. which icons (3 max) that you have in rotation currently can you not imagine ever taking out of rotation?

2. if the lj meanies suddenly told us we could only have 3 icons and that's that, which would you keep right now?

answer here or in your lj, as you will.

and while it seems like those questions should have the same answer, i don't think they would... having only three would change the rules, you know?

1. two easy answers, since i've already had them forever and can't seem to let them go:

oddly, i think the other is this one: which i never, ever use because it's too angsty for me. but i love it and it's frodo and i don't think i can part with it.

2. right now, i would keep:

I love changing my icons. There is no icon which I've had since I started this journal (in 2001, wtf!) I still remember my first icon, it was a drawing of a girl with rainbow hair. But, anyway, I change them a lot, but I keep them saved in a folder, so I can go back to them if I want to. I have about 200 in there.

The one I'm using for this comment, I did swear to feline_dacat (the other girl in it) that I'd never take it out of rotation, so I suppose it stays but all the rest change. I love people who keep one or two icons the same though, it gives me a sense of familiarity.

yeah, i like that too. familiarity and strong association. certain images just make me think immediately of some lj-ers. it's fun that way. :)

I've had them forever because I can't not have them. However, there are far more that I don't think I'll take out of rotation. Like the icon I'm using for this entry. There are just so many occasions to use Dork!Bodie when you're me.


2.

Three different moods, different people, different colours. If you only have three, you have to make each one count. It's a hard choice, though, and they'd either change every week or I'd go back to only having one picture of myself and not thinking about it.

1. - my deafult icon [It's Harry with disheveled hair. It's how I imagine him in the books.]
- Remus from _hdcomic [It mentions chocolate. I can't take an icon that mention chocolates out of rotation. It's a good comforting icon. *g*]
- the time turner one [I love the caption. The icon fits my mood most of the time.]

I can't bear to part with the doodle that duckpuppy drew me when I wasn't feeling well, and I love the picture of my sister's cat, Toby. The third one I change when I'm feeling particularly inspired, which has been not so often, lately.

though when i only had three i had a squee, an idiots, and another that changed almost every day. but i don't love my squee or idiots ones like i love these three. so.

those three are mostly because i put a lot of time and effort into making them, and i'm still happy with the results. funny that they all have the same font; i didn't do that intentionally while choosing.

2.

i just tend to feel the most kinship towards these. i almost picked writing smut (http://www.livejournal.com/userpic/10615700/19757) instead of the second one, but then i realized i had it completely marauder-based, and i'm a big fan of pattern. these actually are the three icons i have that communicate the most to me without the aid of text, so yeah.

- Karl (Skorpan) from the Brothers Lionheart. It's just so me, it almost feels like a picture OF me. *g*
- Because I love it, and people always give me compliments for it, heehee.
- From Lolita. It's just sweet and appropriate for many different subjects/moods.
