this morning i have a coffee date with
starbuckle and
suckeriove who is here checking out smith college. i'm starting to feel like the pioneer valley welcome committee. which suits me just fine, really.
i hope
camillafarfalla gets her wee booty on line today and posts about her hobbit encounters of last night. i want the long, detailed version now, please.
so, yesterday, i finally finished reading silver on the tree. ok, so, waaah was mostly what i had to say. it's such a sweet-sad ending. reminds me of lotr actually. in that all turns out well, good triumphs over evil... but those who fought will never be the same. or... the one at the center of it all anyway. one goes alone. wah! i actually really, strongly dislike the constant memory erasing the light does. do they have no moral qualms about it? it's an annoying device plot-wise as well because there are never interesting human repercussions of understanding the forces at work in the world. and why should will have to be alone, dammit? i think he doesn't. i think he should have bran. that's what i think.
it's sooooooo cold this morning. wheee! i'm a pervy autumn fancier.
friendster got me in touch with my college roommate, L, with whom i have not spoken in years. thanks, friendster! heh. really, though, it's very exciting. and she seems to be doing quite well.
my voice lesson was cancelled for today (meh) so i think i shall spend the afternoon making books.

Date: 2003-10-01 11:21 am (UTC)the anonymous "L" appears!
Date: 2003-09-30 02:44 pm (UTC)And I agree that Will should be allowed to keep Bran as his companion. Haven't read the books in a few years, but I definitely remember feeling the keen injustice of that separation as a nerdy, lonely, bespectacled child.
Happy Mountain Day to all!

Date: 2003-10-01 11:16 am (UTC)and i'm so glad to see that you support the will/bran love. sadly, this is a tiny fandom and thus i have already read all the will/bran that exists. what to do?

Date: 2003-09-30 06:24 pm (UTC)Yes, that's what kills me about the end of LOTR, and also the His Dark Materials trilogy (which you must read!), and most good fantasy, really. I think there's a similar end to the Prydain chronicles as well.
